Amigo Restaurant - Traralgon

Played at the Amigo Restaurant in Traralgon on the 3rd of August and did the gig acoustically. By that I mean singing without a microphone and using my resonator guitars (Dobro/Paul Beard) with MIDI backing. I borrowed a Bose Acoustimass 5 set of speakers to use on the night and was very pleasantly surprised at their performance. The Paul Beard Road-O-Phonic resonator guitar sounded wonderful through the system. The speakers are very small and since there are a pair each side of me I can swivel them so that I can disperse the middle to high sound over a very wide range. That's always been a problem in the past as the room is rectangular and I'm located in the middle of one of the long walls. Quite a few people came up after I'd finished and said I'd done a great job playing a variety of material and not being too loud as to upset their conversations. In fact a couple of people asked me for my business card as they intend to recommend me for other functions.

I've used the Paul Beard guitar on quite a few occasions to open my sets and it works very well, in fact well enough for it to be part of every gig!
