At the monthly session

It was a pleasure to asked to play bass again in the house band.

Started off at 2:00 p.m. at the Zillmere R.S.L. and played through to 11:00 p.m. on the Saturday and then 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the monthly session on the Sunday.

Fantastic music from start to finish.

The quality of the players from start to finish was simply amazing. Could have listened for days, alas, life gets in the way.

Again, there was this comradre between everyone. No ego's, just the willingness to do whatever was required to make the event successful and it certainly was.

The artists were:

The artists performed on both days, what a bonus!

The fun part of the Sunday session is in the last half an hour where the top players have a 'play off'. Just amazing what they come up with. Milton, Jay Dee, Paddy and Jim Priebi tore it up. I played in the background, I'm not as hot as these guys but I wanted to join in.

P.S. Jammed with Phil Carter's group on the Friday night at Twin Waters. Great catching up with Phil and meeting the rest of the band. The band has made a concession to the ravages of time and tune a half-step down to make life easier. As it would happen, broke a guitar string and didn't have a spare. Their guitarist helped me out with a used string which worked perfectly well. More socialising on the deck.

P.S.S. Socialised with Graham Dean Thursday and Sunday night. No music, just dinner at catching up.

Had a most wonderful time away.
